Scientific Name:
In the scientific world, this beetle is known as Adoretus. In English, they are generally called Adoretus beetles or scarab beetles.
Family and Genus:
According to the classification of the animal kingdom, it belongs to the subfamily Rutelinae of the family Scarabaeidae of the suborder Polyphaga. It is a known species under the genus Adoretus.

Origin and Habitat:
Their main native home is across the Asia and Africa continents. In our country's farm fields, gardens, tree leaves, and around the soil, they are naturally seen in plenty.

Food:
Fully grown adult insects are usually of generalist herbivore nature and survive by eating tender leaves of various plants. On the other hand, their larvae grow up by eating plant roots or decayed plant tissue under the soil.

Reproduction:
In suitable environments and moist soil, they lay eggs. The larvae emerging from eggs grow slowly by staying under the soil or around plant roots and subsequently take shape into the pupa stage.

Benefits:
In the food chain of nature and the decomposition process, these insects play an indirect role. However, they are mostly recognized as plant leaf and root consuming pests.

Harmful Aspects:
Some species of it are considered quite harmful or pests for crop fields and gardens. Especially by damaging leaves and roots of grapes, cotton, litchi, rose, or various vegetables, they become somewhat of a cause of trouble for farmers.

I learned about them from various sites including iNaturalist, Wikipedia and Google.
