Heeeyho Readers! Do you use your Hive earnings?

Saving up Hive is the ultimate objective, but, unfortunately, some of us have to deal with unwanted expenses, especially broke chicken nuggets like myself. Whenever I'm 'bout to hit that sexy 1500 Hive mark... Bang! Something happens. It's awesome that this blog exists to back my white skinny ass though cannot deny — spending money sucks!

This time it's my bicycle. Snapped the rear axle completely ruining the hub; there goes ~280 Hive in parts plus service. That's the life of an amateur athlete (hello-ooo sponsors xD). Anyways. As I resolve this financial burden, it occurred me that using Hive earnings is much easier today than when I started in 2017.

Hive wasn't listed on many exchanges back in 2017. Technically, it wasn't listed anywhere because Hive didn't exist — you know the story of that who-shall-not-be-mentioned blockchain, so let's assume Hive existed. Not being listed didn't matter either. I had a regular job that allowed me to save every bit of crypto. Then I took an arrow to the knee went to Europe and began to actually use Hive to live. The saga begins.

Back then, spending Steem Hive involved a series of transactions for those who didn't dispose of an international bank account linked to an exchange: Send first to a major exchange, swap for Bitcoin, swap BTC for XRP to then send XRP to Wirex, sell XRP for British pounds, send pounds to debit card, and finally use the money. Talk about fees! Could as well send XRP and sell at a local exchange, but the fees would be even higher. Fees, fees, and more fees.

After I got a Wirex card, in 2019

That insanity lasted until the fork and the creation of Hive (Mar., 2020), shortly followed by a major exchange implementing bank withdrawals in my country (Nov., 2020). Suddenly, the life of a broke skinny sausage became a hella easier: send Hive to exchange and withdraw in local money. Ba-da-bim, ba-da-bum.

The next evolution could be a Hive Veteran's Sexy card, like a debit/credit card for those who are here for a while (to avoid farming abuse). The card could be linked to a p2p system where Hivers connect to fellow countrymen to trade Hive/Fiat, getting deposits directly into the Hive card. Am I tripping?

Plenty of junk to remove

With HBD savings rates being so attractive I don't see a reason for not having a portion of our wealth on the blockchain; it's a safe way against a lot of factors (not getting into that here).

How have you experienced spending crypto?

I'm curious to know how my fellow Hiveans have experienced spending crypto, especially those in 3rd world country. We all know crypto and Hive have changed people's lives in difficult situations, so I'm always curious to understand how people manage their life.

Peace.
