Yesterday was one of those days in school that I won't forget easily because we had our practical I.T process on solar installation and It was different from the normal classroom lectures where we just sit down listen to the lecturer and copy notes
This time we had to actually go outside and work with the materials ourselves.We were told earlier that we were going to do the solar installation practically so I already knew I had to prepare myself. In the morning, I got ready and went to school and When I got there I met some of my classmates already preparing for the practical,
Everybody was moving around, talking and trying to make sure we had everything we needed.After everyone had gathered and our lecturer first explained what we were going to do and how the whole installation would be carried out, He also reminded us to be careful because we were going to work with electrical connections
Honestly some of us were already eager to start because we wanted to see everything work.We started by arranging the materials we were going to use and We had the solar panel, battery, charge controller, inverter, wires and some other tools needed for the installation
So before connecting anything we had to identify each component and understand what it was used for.The first major thing we did was position the solar panel properly and We had to make sure it was placed where it could receive enough sunlight, And we also checked the direction and position before fixing it. Although It looked easy when the lecturer was explaining it,
And when it was our turn to handle everything ourselves, we realized that there were plenty of things to know.After positioning the panel we started working on the wiring. This was where everybody became more serious because one wrong connection could affect the whole system and we have to check the positive and negative terminals carefully before connecting the wires to the charge controller.From the charge controller, we continued with the connection to the battery.
We made sure the terminals were connected correctly and properly tightened Some of my classmates were asking some questions while others were helping to hold the wires and arrange the materials.After connecting all the battery we moved to the inverter. The inverter was important because it would convert the electricity from the battery into the type of power that could be used to operate appliances. So our lecturer now guided us through the connection and made sure we were doing everything correctly and perfectly At some point we encountered a little challenge because the system didn't immediately work the way we expected it to be so we had to go back and check the connections one after another.
Everybody started looking at the wires again and again, trying to find out where the problem was.After checking everything carefully we finally got it working.Honestly seeing the system come on after all the work was exciting, Everybody was happy because the practical had finally started making sense to us. It was no longer just something we had read about in class, We were actually seeing how the different components worked together.We spent some more time checking the connections and making sure everything was properly arranged before packing up.By the time we finished I was already tired, but I was also happy because I participated.
The practical taught me things that I probably wouldn't understand fully by just reading a textbook.Yesterday's solar installation I.T process was stressful in some parts, but it was also interesting and enjoyable.
We worked together, made mistakes, corrected them and finally got the system working.For me, that's one of the good things about practicals in school. Sometimes you don't understand something until you actually do it with your own hands
