More egregious behaviour from a British police force.
Sadly living under the sort of regime that exists in Britain today can expose us to some completely lunatic stories involving how we are all policed. We see obvious two tier policing in cases like that of Henry Nowak and for example the difference in how demonstrations by British Nationalists and Muslim groups are policed. We see, via the copious number of ‘auditors’ who monitor what police are up to, how officers have poor knowledge of the law and who use the law to target those who depart in their words from State narratives. The public are losing trust in the police and the criminal justice system in general and it will take some future government much more effort and time to bring back that trust than it took the likes of Sir Robert Mark, former Met Commissioner, to root out corruption in the Met Police and that took a few years. It took decades upon decades to build public trust in the police and that trust has been lost in less than two decades.
A good example of how the police and especially the Metropolitan Police have lost the plot comes from an incident that followed the Jihad attack on Heaton Park Synagogue at Yom Kippur in 2025.
Mark Birbeck, a non-Jewish supporter of Israel was arrested at a Pally-Wanker protest in London was arrested for a Terrorism Act offence along with being accused of a public order offence and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace. Mr Birbeck was eventually cleared of these accusations and has now brought a case against the Metropolitan Police challenging the lawfulness of the arrests.
From looking into the background of this incident it appears that this wasn’t the first time that Mr Birbeck was arrested by the Met often for merely holding up a sign saying ‘Hamas are terrorists’. Stating that Hamas are terrorists is not or should not be an offence especially because Hamas are classed by the UK government as terrorists.
Mr Birbeck is being backed in his fight against the Met by the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA).
The CAA said on X:
“We are proud to fund and provide legal representation for @markbirbeck's claim against the Metropolitan Police, issued today in the High Court in London. CAA is providing litigation funding to enable Mr Birbeck, the founder of @OurFightUK, to challenge the lawfulness of his arrest five days after the Heaton Park synagogue terror attack. Mr Birbeck was arrested on suspicion of committing a Terrorism Act offence, a public order offence, and a breach of the peace. Extensive footage shows Mr Birbeck calmly debating with pro-Palestine supporters while holding a sign that read “We stand with Britain’s Jews” immediately before his arrest. We fully support this action and Mr Birbeck's determination to secure an acknowledgment from the police that their conduct was unlawful.
For years, CAA has provided free legal representation and litigation funding to people affected by antisemitism or victimised for standing with British Jews. Our litigation funding provides access to specialist lawyers and indemnifies claimants against adverse costs. Mr Birbeck said: “I wanted to publicly display a simple message of solidarity with British Jews just a week after two of their community were killed outside a Manchester synagogue. I was arrested, and the charges brought against me that day are outrageous and baseless. I am grateful to CAA for taking on my case, and ensuring that the police are held accountable. Nobody should be left with a terror arrest on their record for taking such a stand”.
Mr Birbeck’s case is yet another galling example of two-tier policing in Britain. While Palestine activists repeatedly break our laws with impunity, a member of the public is seemingly unable to peacefully express support for British Jews without being arrested on suspicion of terrorism - a serious offence. This is a sobering reflection of the state of our justice system, and that is why CAA has intervened to see that the police answer for their conduct in court. Those who stand with British Jews will always have our support, and we will not stand by while the law is turned on them instead of on those who threaten our community.”
As I said earlier this arrest and terrorism accusation was not Mr Birbeck’s first rodeo. He has been continually harassed by the Metropolitan Police for peacefully and lawfully demonstrating his belief, one that the British government share, that Hamas are terrorists. It should noted and noted wall that the Met have shown themselves to be beyond just reluctant to tackle Pally-Wanker marchers even when they are showing support for the murderers who invaded Israel in October 2023. The Met are reluctant even to demand that Pally Wanker marchers uncover their faces despite the police having the power to do so and who have used that power extensively when it is British nationalist marchers covering their faces.
I hope and pray that Mr Birbeck and his supporters win this case, take the Met to the cleaners and publicly rip the Met a new arsehole. The Met deserve such a result. Yes I know that any win for Mr Birbeck will come out of the taxpayers pockets but it will be worth it to see the Met taken down legally in this way.
For three years now we’ve watched the Met pander to the far Left and the Jihadists who have marched through London calling for the deaths of Israelis and scaring the shit out of London’s Jewish population. We have also seen the Met engage in blatant two tier policing not just in the example of Mr Birbeck but in how they’ve dealt with other pro-Jewish and pro-British protestors and in one case arresting one guy because he ‘looked Jewish’ and wanted to avoid inflaming the Jihadist savages and their far Left handmaidens by not allowing the Jewish guy to walk along the road.
The Met have let all of us down. They’ve failed to police impartially, have on boarded a whole host of dodgy Islamic ‘advisors’ and have clearly policed with obvious favouritism towards the pro-Hamas marchers. This is a case that the Metropolitan Police deserve to lose.
