The obsession by Britain’s political classes with Net Zero is, as it should be clear to anyone with a functioning brain that as well playing a major part in the ongoing and future impoverishment of Britons Net Zero is also a National Security issue.
If we cannot guarantee the security of supply of the fossil fuels that are the only current and reasonable way of fuelling armoured personnel carriers, tanks, ships, aircraft, supply vehicles and much else then it disadvantages British security greatly. If we can’t make the sort of virgin steel or composites or aluminium or the chemicals that are needed for advanced military equipment and are sourcing such items from potentially hostile nations because of an adherence by UK government to Net Zero ideology then we cannot build new stuff or replace that which might be lost.
Net Zero could, as Maurice Cousins said in Spiked recently, leave Britain ‘defenceless’.
Mr Cousin’s piece is great and shows how badly Britain is slipping behind because we are losing the industrial backbone that is needed to create and sustain an effective military force.
