I don't usually watch american politics but I was awake so I thought I'd have it on in the background. Bear in mind, this is my first exposure to most of these candidates.

I liked Sanders a lot, I did however think that Kamala Harris was very overrated in this debate. All the news outlets here seem to highlight how she had an amazing performance, I thought the only thing of substance she did was smoking Biden over his past. Admittedly that was the highlight of this debate, but ultimately it had less to do with Harris herself and more to do with the atrocious response from Biden. Almost all of her talking points were appeals to emotion based on personal anecdote. Sanders at least dared to identify problems and propose solutions. Also, I enjoyed the occasional awkward silences, giggling and gasps his comments caused in the audience when they overdosed on the truth.

Yang was unintentionally comedic. He was my personal favourite for that reason. I honestly thought he'd just left the stage at one point, he was such a non-entity.

Everyone else fell at varying points along the spectrum of cringe. For the most part they failed to stand out because I was acutely aware almost everything they had to say was political posturing.

As a final point, I can't believe how bad the musical jingle was for when they went to a break. I often forget that Americans genuinely enjoy that sort of overblown upbeat "patriotic" theme music. Absolutely disgusting.
