Today I will tell you about my first foundation casting experience. The picture you can see was taken from my project site. And those are the foundations of the cement grinding building. Which was the first casting work I was in charge of. The time was February 20, 2019. I joined the company 2 months ago. It was a project worth around Rs 1400 crore. Which was operated by CHMC Company of China.

So I was there from the very beginning of the building work. From the first piling work to the very end. And you can see the complete picture of this building in picture number 4. It took about 1 year and 2 months to complete the civil work. The budget of this building was about 6 crore rupees. Its height was a little over 40 meters. We had to do about 48 piles to make this building. There were a total of 14 foundations in this building. The height of each foundation was 3100 mm. It took us about 1 month to cast these 14 foundations.
There are two types of foundations. Some foundations are triangular in shape and some are square in shape. The triangular foundations required about 13.5 cubic meters of concrete. About 16.5 cubic meters of concrete was required to cast the quadrangular foundations.

We didn't have to worry about that because the readymix plant was built inside our project.Even before this, some of its foundations had already been cast. At that time for a while I went to visit another site. On the morning of the 19th I came to the site to understand my own responsibility. It took me a while to understand the work. On the other hand, about 4 foundations are ready for casting. I check the foundations well. We check the size of the foundation, its height, position, column position, grid line, rod arrangement, shutter joint, block arrangement, clear cover, shutter support, etc., almost everything. Something went wrong and after everything was fixed, I informed my senior engineer that he would come and see it all. He comes and checks everything, and after completing all the office formalities, allows casting on the 20th. I remember the volume of the total casting was about 60 cubic meters of concrete. Which is the biggest casting I had at that time.

On the morning of the 20th I came to the office. I inform all my staff. Two of my supervisors had reached the place before me. I finished the official formalities and reached the casting site.
I go and see that everything is almost fine. I order concrete at the Ready Mix plant. We start casting around 10 in the morning. Due to the high height of these, we first had to go 1 foot. After casting all 1 foot, I have cast 1 foot again. Because somehow if a shutter fails then it could become a big problem. So we had to do the work with a lot of time. I remember my blood pressure was very high at that time. Anyway we slowly finished the casting. It took us about 6 hours to finish the casting. It took about 3 more hours to fix the casting level after casting. At 11 o'clock we all came back to our rooms.

The next morning I go to the site and arrange water for curing them. About 72 hours after the casting, we started to open the shutters of the foundations. So this was the first foundation casting of my life. I had a lot of fun and learned a lot. Which is still very useful to me. I will never forget those days. After that I have gradually completed the work of the building. Looking at the building makes me very proud of myself. Thanks
