Republic Metals Corporation
The Republic Metals Corporation was one of the largest precious metals refineries in the world. Started in 1980, Located in Miami, Florida, they specialized in recycling from scrap materials like jewelry scraps, gold dust, manufacturing scrap, gold leaf, impure bars, and possibly from cartel run illegal mines in Latin America. Their primary customers were jewelry makers and manufacturers for the bars of precious metal, but they did also mint gold and silver rounds for public consumption (Source: Miami Herald).
Bankruptcy
Republic Metals Corporation ended up filing for bankruptcy in 2018, after a $100 million dollar discrepancy was found in their gold inventory. The company was ultimately sold for $25.5 million to Asahi, a Japanese refiner, $16.6 million went to settle with a group of banks that had lost much more (Source: Miami Herald).
RMC Logo 1oz Silver Round
Republic Metals Corporation minted this Logo 1oz Pure Silver round.
The front of the round has the RMC Logo in the center, with the text "REPUBLIC METALS CORPORATION" along the top curve of the round, and "1 TROY OUNCE .999 PURE SILVER" along the bottom curve.
The backside of the coin features the RMC Logo repeating, to create a background pattern.
It's too bad things went south at Republic Metals Corp., I'll stack this silver Logo round as a reminder.
