This amazing building is called Gate of All Nations (also known as the Gate of Xerxes) and it is an ancient Iranian monument located in the capital of Persepolis. Darius the Great and his son Xerxes built it to symbolize the entrance to the Achaemenid Empire through which representatives of all countries and people must pass. So before arriving at this imposing structure, you have to climb a huge double staircase. On the stone balustrades of this architectural masterpiece, a bas-relief composition has been made, depicting numerous delegations of different tribes and peoples, which cheerfully present the best gifts to the great king of kings. It is worth noting that the Achaemenid rulers were among the first who understood how to use visual rhetoric.
They managed to create such buildings and sculptures with the help of which they could impress everyone who saw them and made them realize the importance of the Achaemenid Empire, its strength, and grandeur.
