Finally Some Good News
If the never ending corona virus news, or the China virus like some have been calling it, has been getting you down, followed by the looming financial implications coming, mass quarantine and the canceling of everything. Then on top of all that, there's also the constant news about Steem and the Justin Tron issue and massive crypto decline in the last two weeks. I'm sure I can speak for most of us, when I say we've had enough bad news, and that we're all hoping for just a glimmer of something positive.
Well that hope for me personally came in the form of an announcement from Sony regarding the the PlayStation 5. Well to be more accurate, it was a notification of a coming announcement happening in about 3 hours from now.
"I think one of my favorite things to do is just lock myself up in a small room and listen to music and watch films for a day. Also I just like seeing my friends. We have pizza parties which means I get four friends round, we eat a pizza and we're really lazy and we play PlayStation." - Daniel Radcliffe
So far we know very little about the PS5, other than the offical release date which was set for end of November 2020, just in time for the holiday season, and the the logo. Other than that, everything has either been from anonymous rumors, unverified Reddit users and also Youtubers who all claim to have the inside scoop. Sony has said the new PS5 console will use an eight-core CPU based on AMD’s third-gen Ryzen line and a custom GPU based on AMD’s Radeon Navi hardware. Sony is also supporting 8K resolutions, 3D audio, 4K gaming at 120Hz, a lower power consumption option, and it’s including an ultra-fast SSD inside the new console. But the exact specification have all been a mystery, include what the console will finally look like. That all changes today, and if you're a gamer you can check it out here https://blog.us.playstation.com/ at 9am Pacific Time.
"If you look at the portion of the GPU available to compute throughout the frame, it varies dramatically from instant to instant. For example, something like opaque shadow map rendering doesn't even use a pixel shader, it's entirely done by vertex shaders and the rasterization hardware - so graphics aren't using most of the 1.8 teraflops of ALU available in the CUs. Times like that during the game frame are an opportunity to say, 'Okay, all that compute you wanted to do, turn it up to 11 now." - Mark Cerny
