Rattlesnakes (Crotalus) are a genus of the subfamily of pit vipers within the vipéridos family. They are poisonous and endemic snakes of the American continent, from the southeast of Canada to the north of Argentina. All species except one, C. catalinensis, are easily recognizable by the characteristic sound of its rattle which is at the tip of the tail.
