This time my entry for the Feathered Friends Photo Contest features a certain bird from the other side of the world or the southern hemisphere or the farthest spot on earth i've ever travelled to in my life so far. I'm talking about Aotearoa, which is Maori for The Land of the Long White Cloud or as most of you know it ... New Zealand. The Bird my post is about is called Kea(Nestor notabilis) and is a large kind of omnivorous parrot (eats plants and insects). As a little extra there's someone you might know already waiting to meet you at the end of the post.
Kiwi House in Otorohanga
I met these Keas in an official Kiwi Shelter on the North Island. The Kiwis i wanted to see in the first place were really shy and i only saw one running by in a flash grabbing some food and disappearing again in the bushes of his compound.

On the Road
This Kea came walking out of the bush heading straight at us staring at our food while we were stopping for a lunch break on our road trip somewhere on the South island. We couldn't resist his stare and shared some of our grapes with this cutie.

Meet an Old Friend
Yes, it's Salvador the Peacock again. He's having lunch with his partner in crime while the geese just stand around there, chatter incessantly and stare at them.
