The topic for the Visual Shots Contest this week is street photography and the photo series you‘re about to see might lack people, but it shows unmistakable traces of people and the images will surely make you think about people in whatever way. So people are visually absent, but indirectly and anonymously present.
The world is not all flowers and sunsets every day, welcome to something different, but nonetheless important. Human ignorance and laziness on public display in the form of carelessly dumped garbage on the streets of Berlin.
From the technical viewpoint i edited the images in a kind of dark movie style without vibrant colors and warm tones to highlight the seriousness of the problem even when they‘re mostly shot on bright and sunny mornings when i was out and about on my morningwalks.
In cities, illegal dumping and littering contributes to the problem of waste on city streets and parks and everwhere.
In many cities, only a fraction of the generated waste is properly disposed of or recycled, leading to large amounts of litter in public spaces.
Improper disposal of hazardous waste can lead to toxic contamination of soil and water.
Earth’s cities are home for about 55% of the global population and generate approximately 70% of the world's waste.
People put so much effort and energy into dumping stuff illegaly on the streets instead of using it to handle their garbage in a more environmental friendly and respectful way. Nevertheless i hope you like the photo series even when it’s not the typical nice and sunny stuff that pleases the eyes. What‘s your opinion about the topic?
