There are advantages and disadvantages to everything we are doing. Both large families and small families have their own advantages and disadvantages.
I will start with the big family. Sometimes I just wish I were part of the big family, with a lot of reasons, especially during the festival periods. You know, the large families happen to be the ones to enjoy most things sometimes.
When I was young, I had just a few friends, and these were just the ones that came around during the festival periods. In fact, our house is just a little bit different from the normal day during the festival periods. I've been to a large family before during their festival period; common, it was always rocky and bubbly. Honestly, it will be so hard for you to even leave after the festival. I always go home late during festival periods, the reasons being that I will be the only one at home; I only have sisters, and they are all even married. Apart from my other siblings from other parents, who used to come around to help us cook, this is because I can't do it all alone. I'm not even a lady anyway, and the fact that I don't have friends also contributed to it.
More so during the old age of parents, when you have a large family, it is always a benefit for the parents, because no matter how you do it, there will always be someone to stay with the parents, but you see the small family; it is always hard for them to see someone that will stay. This is what my family is presently facing. Imagine I have younger ones, up to three or four; it would have been better; at least all of them cannot leave at once. But now it's just my mom and dad at home.
All that being said, there are benefits to small families too; honestly, small families always have more love than big families. In a large family, there is what we call jealousy; they get jealous of one another, especially when it is extended family, and this jealousy can go a long way to the extent that they can start doing spiritual things to destroy each other. I know this might sound a little bit weird, but believe me, just the way extended family is good is also extremely bad.
Meanwhile, some extended family just don't care about each other; even the parents, they will be like, They have many children around, and this will make them think if one child doesn't give, the other one will give. They are careless about their children because they have them plenty, but you see extended family. You will always see them loving each other so much.
If any one of them has a problem, they will stand up and help immediately because they know they only have a few.
In summary, they both have the good and the bad side, and if you ask me what I actually wanted, between the large family and the small family, honestly I will still go for the small family. I'm already used to that life. Extended family can be so frustrating.
