As a woman in my ...cough... forties, daily skin care is something I can't do without. As someone who suffered severe adult acne in her twenties and thirties, I also have resultant scarring to address. Rather than spend exorbitant amounts of money on commercially made products with ingredients I can neither pronounce nor identify, I began researching for ingredients with which I can create my own age-busting, skin-loving products. Here is how I make my anti-aging skin oil:

Ingredients:

Jojoba oil is the carrier oil I chose. Apricot kernel oil, avocado oil, and coconut oil are also good choices. I use jojoba due to its ability to mimic our natural sebum and balance our skin oil level, its Vitamin E and B-Complex components, and because, unlike true oils, jojoba does not go rancid. It entends the shelf-life of the oils blended with it.

Next is flaxseed (linseed) oil. Flaxseed oil is anti-inflammatory, clears blemishes, reduces scars and pigmentation marks, evens skin tone, reduces appearance of dark circles, and leaves skin super soft.

Lemon essential oil is an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal powerhouse. Additionally, it brightens skin tone and stimulates collagen production, the substance that keeps skin elastic.

Frankincense oil also stimulates collagen production, balances skin pH, reduces appearance of scars, dark spots, and age spots.

Neroli oil is anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and antibacterial. It also helps heal scars, improves circulation, stimulates collagen production, and encourages new cell growth.

I use glass rollerballs for ease of application. Simply fill the bottle approx 90% full with your carrier oil. Add 3-5 drops each of the essential oils you choose, then top off with flaxseed oil. Shake well to blend. Voila! An inexpensive powerhouse of anti-aging, skin- loving serum. Use morning and night.
