They left it as an open source project but I don't see any sane person pick up the leftovers, even though it seems there are some interested people on discord talking about it, but I doubt anything will come out of it, the damage is done. Hive drops they took themselves, in the last season reward pool was 40k Steem but it all went to top 10-20 players. So yes, smaller players were left raped on the street.
