Last night, I got a commercial for a Christmas themed movie on youtube which was quite premature since Winter is still 5 months away yet nobody in my neighbourhood ever takes their winter lights down (not complaining). Fairy in a crystal ball was inspired by the commercial and I really wanted to give the crystal ball a 3D look on paper but it didn't work out too well 馃ぃ.
I first drew out a fairy with a pencil and then used any circular item I could find (I used a moisturizer cap) to create a circle on a different piece of paper to create a cut-out circular shape.
Next, I placed the cut-out on top of the fairy sketch and taped the sides. I used a screw driver to strip off some pencil lead on top of the cut-out and used a tissue to create a smudging effect.
Finally, I removed the taped cut-out and colored the fairy with some markers. I was hoping the crystal ball would look more realistic but alas I wasn't able to achieve the result I had in mind. I am still satisfied with the turn-out.
