Arbolito de avellano / Hazel tree

Junto al cauce de un joven río Cerezo, habita un árbol o arbusto que sorprende por su color amarillo en esta época del año. Se trata de un avellano, cuyo nombre científico es Corylus avellana, al cual le gusta el frescor que le aporta la cercanía al cauce, creciendo mejor en zonas donde prevalezca la humedad.

El arbolito se está preparando para su siesta invernal y sus hojas se tornan de un color amarillo intenso antes de despedirse y desprenderse para siempre del mismo.

El avellano es un árbol mágico, hasta tal punto que se denomina también "El árbol de los hechizos". Sus ramas, con la propiedad de ser muy flexibles, son altamente preciadas para elaborar varas de poder y uno de los mejores materiales para los zahoríes o buscadores de agua. Los celtas lo llamaban Cooll, representando para ellos fuente de conocimiento y justicia.

The hazel is a magical tree, so much so that it is also called "The tree of spells". Sus frutos, las "avellanas" son uno de los frutos secos más consumidos,a los cuales, también se les atribuyen propiedades relacionadas con la fertilidad. Procede de las flores femeninas (el mismo árbol, que es monoico, posee flores femeninas y masculias de forma diferenciadas, siendo estas últimas una especie de cilindros colgantes con forma parecida a una oruga).

Its fruits, the "hazelnuts" are one of the most consumed nuts, to which are also attributed properties related to fertility. It comes from the female flowers (the same tree, which is monoecious, has female and male flowers in a differentiated form, the latter being a kind of hanging cylinders with a caterpillar-like shape).
