This is one of those pours i wanted to do for a long time and today was the first day i have had off in 5 days so i decided it was time for a play.
I didnt manage to take photos of the process i used to make the silver bullet but i can explain some of the process and problems i had. As you can see it didnt turn out perfect as it needed some fetling.
I bought a replica of a 303 bullet in a cartridge off a local market and used delft clay to make an impression in a casting flask. The impression looked good when i made it but after heating up and pouring the silver there was a bit of flashing that needed filing down.
It felt like hours hand filing but was only 45 mins and then a quick 5 mins on the rough polishing wheel, i then set on to stamp the mermaid that i put on all my pours and this was a task as putting a flat stamp on a round object is kind of tricky but i did get to use my freshly restored anvil.
The bullet weighs in at 53 grams and is made from old broken sterling silver jewellery.
Hope you have enjoyed my post and thank you for reading.
