If Mt. St. Helens is the queen of the cascades, Mt. Rainier would be the king. I made this photo coming back from eastern Washington on US HWY 12.
Funny thing. I used to live very close to HWY 12 – just 2,000 miles to the east. Never really thought about the fact that, if you just kept to the road long enough, you'd break out of the flat land and come across one of these things.
