Much Ado About Nothing is the fifth Shakespeare story I’m sharing with you. I love these adaptations by the Lamb brothers because they’re short and easy to digest.
I found this one particularly amusing because it brings two people together through an unwanted exchange of words and unkind compliments; it reminded me of how some people go to great lengths to prove their love in unconventional ways.
Benedict was led to believe that Beatrice was crazy about him, and Beatrice was led to believe that Benedict was crazy about her, and so they went from hating each other to loving each other. When they discovered it was a joke, it turned out they really did love each other, but they went back to treating each other badly. Wow! It seems like a small-town romance—or a toxic one, as they’d say nowadays, hahaha.
Shakespeare, I’ve noticed you like to lie. In The Winter’s Tale, or the one about the lost daughter, you also used that device and kept the mother hidden by making her appear to be dead. What a drama!

Mucho ruido y pocas nueces es el quinto cuento de Shakespeare que les traigo. Me encantan estas adaptaciones de los hermanos Lamb porque son cortas y fáciles de digerir.
Esta en particular me pareció jocosa porque une a dos personas en un intercambio indeseado de palabras y cumplidos poco amables; recordé el afán de algunos por demostrar su amor de una manera diferente.
A Benedicto le hicieron creer que Beatriz estaba loca por él y a Beatriz que Benedicto estaba loco por ella, y así pasaron de odiarse a amarse. Cuando descubrieron que era una broma, resulta que se querían de verdad, pero volvieron a tratarse mal. ¡Vaya! Parece un amor de pueblo o tóxico como dirían ahora jajaja
Shakespeare, he notado que te gusta mentir. En El cuento de invierno, o en el de la hija perdida también usaste ese recurso y mantuviste a la madre oculta haciéndola pasar por muerta. ¡Qué novela!
