Planting our Soya bean seeds ourselves

Hello Hive

Waking up every morning is usually a challenging event after working hours daily on the farm. Today is yet another day to share with my homestead family the work done on our farm yesterday. I can tell you just how busy we are at this time of the year and the rigorous work all around this place.

It is quite unfortunate that today we have to plant our soy beans ourselves. Before now, we had paid some laborers to assist us with the planting of seeds. Just so you know, the laborers didn’t carry out the task to our satisfaction. And after visiting the farms after about 4 weeks of planting, we realized that only a handful of the soy beans germinated out of the about 4 acres we have designated for planting soy beans.

Yesterday, we had to move into the farms with our friends and loved ones to help us with the planting of seeds.

We got the 2 kg bag of seeds from the agricultural engineering store and started to replant everything all over again. It seems like whenever you want a task done on the farm, you have to be fully engaged or do it yourself.

The laborers haven't been honest, and they did a terrible job with the ordinary planting of seeds.

For the planting process, we dug holes in the soil with our working tools; hoes or cutlasses can be used based on convenience. 2-3 seeds were planted per hole, and we used about 5 hours to cover the whole 4 acres of land.

A pair of the 2 kg of seeds taken to the farm weren't enough to cover the land. We still have a portion of the field yet to be planted, and our next visit means that we will go with more seeds to complete the planting process.

The ground was really dried yesterday while we planted the seeds, and I really hope that we will have some rain as soon as possible to water the seeds so that germination will not be delayed.

It’s a good thing that we are in luck because the season for planting soy beans is not yet over and we are still in season. This is actually my very first time growing soy beans. I had some farm neighbors grow soy beans last year and paid keen attention to the growth process and everything.

This year, I decided to grow some soy bean seed myself. So starting with the planting, my experience growing the bean has just begun.
I hope that this will end successfully in the end with quality harvest.

Thank you for reading through and more specially for my friends who came around to help us with the farm work yesterday.
