Hello Hive.

Happy new and beautiful week to us all, may the new week be favorable to us and grant all that our heart desires. Today I feel a lot better and I'm able to gradually come up on my feet. I have been down for the past two days now with fever and couldn't even attend Sunday service yesterday. I couldn't move an arm not to talk of sewing or blogging.

These things happens in order to remind us of our weak nature and that sometimes as humans we have to always find time to rest and recover. Ever since we have completed the planting of our rice in the swamp I had expected some ill health due to the nature of the work, I'm just glad that the sickness was a slight one and not overwhelming. I'm well rested and feel alot better now.

I'm so glad that my sewing journey took a positive turn this year and I'm able to do a lot more things that I couldn't do before. Even if I am not making any tangible money from sewing, I'm able to sew for my loved ones, family and friends, I'm able to cloth even people I don't know who are in need of clothes.
Sometimes if there is welfare offerings one can donates some clothes to charity or even friends within the neighborhood who need what we have outgrown.

Due to how poor my sewing was before now I have so many damaged clothes and several other work in progress outfits which I couldn't complete as I lacked the ideas of how to go about it.

I was unable to sew a neat hemmings for cloth especially if they have a circular edges like this blouse.

But I was able to effortlessly do that today

Another thing I couldn't do was to decide what types of sleeves to sew on some wears. For instance there are some rules regarding what kind of sleeves will fit some outfits the more

It's not a must to follow the rules, now I can decide on my own. If I have my doubts I try all the options available to me until I feel good about my design

I had wanted to cut and sew a flair sleeve to this outfits, I just have the feeling that it will look good on it but since the fabric wasn't enough I cut out a straight simple sleeve.

If I had enough fabric I would cut out the flair and try it on the cloth first

One thing I learnt is that if I want to see an expensive wear I can always try out my intended design on a cheaper fabric first or pattern paper before transferring to the main fabric.

I fixed up the sleeve

Stitched the side seams and the belt, adjusted the measurements of the blouse

And it is all ready to be worn.
One thing I learnt is that no top designer started as a professional, one has to go through this stages of making too many mistakes, but since I never gave up on sewing, it only got better over the years and now I can cut and sew simple wears within the shortest time possible.
