It's a brand new week and we are privilege to see the light of a new day hale and hearty and even being able to wake up with much strength and enthusiasm needed to carry out our daily Activities. There are varieties of work to be done here from tilling of the land, to planting, weeding or harvest. Since varieties of crops are being planted all of these activities have to be done for various crops and at their various times.
For once that these okro was planted it was harvested and sold off in the farms for the first time. Now a second harvest ought to happen this week, as okro has to be harvested at every 2-3weeks interval. 2weeks interval is often the best period for harvesting okro. Newly developed okra plants needs to be harvested timely before they become too harsh of hard to be harvested.
And just while we are preparing to go about the second harvest, a disease condition has just broken out among the okro plant. It has made the leaves to all begin withering while the plants has lost lots of leaves already.
See what's happening here
The plant had gone from being fresh and healthy like you can see below to what we now have above.
The okro plants are meant to remain healthy, growing and producing more flowers for harvest to remain continuous. And equally harvest is meant to be a continuous process that should happen at least 4-5timea before the plants finally dries up, but now this disease condition will not allow us to harvest as much as possible before the plant finally dies off. The disease condition causes the leaves of the plant to wither off, the plants looses it leaves and finally dies off.
We have barely noticed this disease condition for about few days now yet the drastic effect of it on the crops is already noticeable. The production of flowers have been arrested and the plant is fast being destroyed.
Actually we didn't see this coming or happening at this time, we have put up a little preventing measure by spraying this okra with some pesticides earlier on.
This was on the day we had sprayed all the veggies in the farm after noticing a disease condition among the vegetables.
Before today we have noticed some disease condition about the other vegetables planted, talking about the Spinach and parts of the pepper. Due to that we have sprayed the entire vegetables farms with pesticides including this okra plant, but still that didn't stop this from happening. The thing is that once there is an outbreak of disease in one vegetables, it can spread to the other veggies, which was why we had sprayed the entire veggies plants earlier.
The okra veggies didn't have any challenge growing up until now that harvest has just begun. The implications of this is a drastic reduction in yield and instead of a repeated harvest up to 5X, harvest may likely be just twice in this case as the crops is fast being damaged.
