Not financial advise, only doing this for fun / speculation. When you look at the numbers for the general sale you'll see that of the 7,529,729 packs purchased more than half of those are sitting around unopened.
My theory is that if CL cards are already this cheap with only 3.5 million of a total 15 million packs opened they are bound to get cheaper as more and more packs are being opened.
Each card is different, some will probably even increase in price as we find they have some unlocked synergy with the new legendary summoners but in general, I think this makes sense.
Now in my opinion, I think we can also accurately predict a specific time when there will be a massive, sudden increase in pack openings and cards hitting the market. Can you guess when that'll be?
When the last legendary summoner is unlocked and all the airdrop cards become available after 14 million packs are sold / rewarded I think we will see a HUGE number of unopened packs get opened and like when the general sale first kicked off, cards will flood the market and prices should rapidly go lower.
A lot of people won't think about how it's a bad time to sell, they'll just be caught up in the excitement of finally being able to DO SOMETHING (after waiting months) with their investment, even if it isn't optimal.
Why do I think this will happen? A lot of us, myself included, bought packs but don't want to open them yet or we'll miss out on a chance for the legendary summoners which history has shown us tend to be the most valuable cards in the entire game.
So I'm being patient. I don't know when we'll hit that 14 million pack milestone but when we do, I'll have some extra funds waiting just in case I can gobble up some cards on the cheap.
It's possible when that day comes it'll be the literal bottom, the cheapest CL cards ever get with a big burst of cards hitting the market and then packs selling out right around the corner removing the rest of the openly available supply.
You do you of course but I don't want to miss the chance to load up if it plays out this way.
Doesn't mean it will happen for sure, it's just one scenario, a catalyst that can move the market in a way we expect. That's something I pay attention to when thinking about how and when to invest.
