Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961) was a Swiss psychiatrist, psychologist and founder of analytical psychology. He is one of the most influential figures in the history of psychology and his work has had a significant impact on various fields of knowledge, including psychotherapy, literature, art and religion.

One of the key concepts developed by Jung is the concept of the collective unconscious. He suggested that in addition to the personal unconscious of each individual, there is a common, universal unconscious, which stores archetypes and symbols inherited from ancestors and common to all mankind.
