It is coming up on my second year anniversary on the steem block chain and it has been quite a ride.
I joined Steemit in June 2017 and then did nothing for weeks but just read the white paper (4 times) and loads of other people's blogs.
It was a steep learning curve even for me with a highly technical background. (I teach computer science, information and communication technology and economics)
After a couple of months on steem I made an investment and bought about 500 steem which brought my account up to just over 1,000 steem and in January 2018. I looked at my wallet and was astonished to see that my holdings were worth $14,000!?
Within a few weeks it had dropped to god knows what price but it was interesting to see what this token was capable of doing in a bull market.
About a year or so more on Steem I bought more steem and became a Dolphin which was nice as I could increase my upvotes and reward people for their effort and contribution to the community.
I have never cashed out a single cent from steem. (which is a terrible strategy from and investment point of view) but continue to grow my account for the long term.
In September 2018 I started 
I did this for a few reasons.
Firstly we didn't have the 'hide resteems' on our blogs at the time and I didn't want to flood my followers with a constant stream of reblogs and secondly I wanted to learn more about the curation process on steem.
My content is wide and varied but today's post is a retrospective on just one of the many tags that I submit content too. #treetuesday initiated by

I hope that you enjoyed this little trip down memory lane. For me it signifies growth and development.

I have a lot to thank the Steem community for not least of which has been the support I have had from so many wonderful people. Many who I have met in person at various meetups and at #Steemfest2 in Lisbon, Portugal.
Being on the steem platform has given me the opportunity/excuse to learn new skills especially in the field of photography. Getting feedback from people who have exceptional skills in photography is priceless and very welcome.
Also looking at the some of the terrible photos that get posted can be very educational. This is not a critism. We all have to start somewhere.
97% of the content on FB et al is pretty dire aesthetically but it hasn't stopped FB from being the go to place for billions of people.
Like most people I have spent many hours snapping away with various cameras over the years but it is only when you see exceptional examples of photos that it makes you think about what you are photographing and why.
Instead of taking a photo. We can try to make a photo as the old saying goes. In other words, have an idea about what the photo is trying to convey.
Who knows where we will be in two years time? Hopefuly I will still be learning new things and contributing my two cents worth to the steem community.
