Have you heard of the epic of gilgamesh? It tells all the same stories as the bible etc. Floods, angry gods and a creation story.
This text predates the bible et al by 1200 years. Worth a read if you get the chance.
As for science getting it wrong there have been countless times when what was thought to be true turned out not to be so.
However the difference between believing something is true and being able to test is something if true is where science and belief separate.
People believed that the world was flat until someone sailed around it.
The moon was made of cheese etc 😂👍
