Last few days I have been working on this painting. This is my first one on a half sheet size(15x22in).
It took me about 6 hrs to finish this work. Almost 3 days of my normal work to finish this.. I would have completed 3 quarter sheet paintings in this time 馃榿.
It reminded me of the first ever A3 size painting I did 3 years back. I wasn't used to paint for more than 30 minutes those days and would have lost my concentration. I left that painting half done and then finished the other half in 5 minutes!
My first A3 painting done in Sept 2019 below
I never imagined painting a half sheet those days. But now I am planning to participate in art exhibitions. Most of them have this size as standard. So there is no other way.
I felt it is easier to paint on these large size sheets.. there is more area to paint and larger margins for error. Large painting can easily make small mistakes go unnoticed .. where as that tiny thickness of stroke or bend in line can ruin a small painting.
For this painting, I took this picture below as reference.

I needed to be careful with the lines as architectural drawings cannot afford to be tilted. Sketching took me about two hour. I just did that on the first day.
The cycle is near and is has to have the highest detail. I had drawin 3 cycles before and none of them had round wheels so I knew what can go wrong.
I planned to put a figure in the open door. There was a wall on left which I avoided.. and then some more details on the right was removed to simplify.
Day 2
Started painting on second day.. 3 hr long session could complete right side and including the cycle.
Day 3
Had a different plan.. removed the figure and added a door .. also corrected a minor tilt on the door on right side. Made the near wall little darker. Another 2 hours to finish off the painting.
Final
There are 3 exhibitions lined up and I will send it to all of these and see if it gets through anyone.. they don't select it if it is already selected for one.
Might have to add some more minor details.
