Today's painting gives me immense happiness.
This is my the best ever portrait so far.. I have made only 4, but the is one step too big for my level. As a part of my assignment I had to paint a portrait in colour. My last painting was a monochrome. That gave me good insight into Portrait painting and this one has taken the fear of painting portraits out of me.
Sketch
I learnt how important the sketch is for a portrait painting. I used to paint without sketching in a lot of my landscape paintings.
The time spent in this was such a learning experience.
Painting stages
Started with face and realised it's not that much area to paint but it needs to be done at such concentration and care that it is almost the time for an entire landscape painting
This holy man has such a beard, it took for ever to do the texture. Yellows and orange in it with some violet.. it's such a play of colours in it.
I made a first ways of background before the final hair part.. don't know why .. chose blue to compliment the skin tone. And finally the last part of hair I added little green.. that was the only missing tone here in the painting 馃榿
