This image has been in my radar for long time. I have been hunting for a picture to paint from Palakkad. There are lots of traditional homes with gate houses and old architecture still in Palakkad. I asked some of my friends to send me some pics but they never did. I picked this one from Pinterest finally and decided to paint today.
Reference:
What was stopping me earlier from painting this was the complexity in it. I can't draw straight lines I mess up those and so architecture paining haunts me. To add to it has two cart wheels too in front of the gate. I mess that up too .. circles.. and here too you can see the wheel goes off shape when painted. 😖
Sketch
Sketch has mainly the house and the plantains. I had made sure I draw all leaves or I have a habit of adding on leaves till it looks like a palm... Plantains normally have just 8 to 10 😁
I just made a round for wheel .. I made a detail one after painting the wall.
Process
Started painting the sky and then the background forests . There are some rocks that look purple and then painted the plantains. Gate and steps later, and the house last.
