Today subject of my painting is an African elephant have a mud bath. The challenging part here is to create the dust flow in watercolor.
Sketch
Started with sketch of elephant and then painted the background sky and trees and highlights of foreground bushes
Stages
Then painted highlights of the elephant. Followed by midtones and the shadows.
For the mud flow I tried with a light wash adding in paint and spraying water and adjusting the flow. It came ok in this so did a thicker layer later
Details
Added the final details and wrinkle lines on elephant skin, worked a bit more on the bushes too
Final
Total time: 90 min
