Today I had to paint a larger one A3 size. And it needed to be portrait.. I chose to paint my favourite topic.. Rain .. and had some ideas initially but this photo by late photographer Victor George inspired me a lot.. I want to dedicate this painting to him . He was a rainophile.
My sketch was too light that it didn't come well in photo.. I had to adjust the pic to show something. I wanted to keep it light because the foggy painting has about 40% white of paper. So the pencil lines could be a turn down.
Few vague lines for the horizon and the cliff on right and for the post. That's it. I planned a channel of water flowing on left too. First wash mostly the fog and greens highlights of the cliff
Then worked more onvthe grass shadows and details once it dried. Meanwhile the right side was modified too.
Finally added the people.. original picture and two different characters.. I made some modifications here.. and then the puddle.. I seems to get addicted to it.. and kerala roads need puddles... The post on right I feel became too tall for my linking else this looks perfect to me.
