My first painting on Hahnemuhle Expression watercolor paper. I had bought few sheets of this paper few weeks before. I am planning to paint a large painting .. so thought of trying a quick one on a smaller piece to get used to it.

This painting is based on photo by late Victor George whose rain photography has inspired many.

It's 32°C hot here now and I have the ceiling fan running at full speed. May be that is why the paper was drying very quickly. I am used to painting at 440gsm paper and this is 300 gsm. That will also add to quick drying of paper.

I felt like it was a sprint. The sky had to be done in one quick wash and it tends to dry up and show hard edges if it's late.. a strickt no to a rainy sky.. had to spray it to keep it wet and flowing. Felt like gasping for breath after this quick work on background. 🙄

Was fairly easy to paint the tree and tree house. Not that complex subject but this tree has a great character to it.

It's a lovely paper.. gives beautiful gradient but painting large is now a cause of concern for this.. I need to be really prepared well for my next painting.
