Todays painting is of a couple of cycles kept near a window. The beautiful light through the window and it's shadows are the subjects. For this painting.
Sketch
Drawing ovals freehand was a struggle. I managed to make this sketch after many attempts. I don't use any copying screen or paper.. try to draw it traditional way... My weakness is my drawing and there is no other way to. Strength it 馃檪
Wasn't happy with it but was ok to go . Had laready spent about an hr on it.
Started the base layer with orange Quinacridone Sienna very light mixture. There are two sources of light here. It is necessary to keep the second source from right so the painting doest look monotonous.
Next step wa to paint the dark areas . This is key to bring on the light and subject alive. It had to be done in layers and I took many breaks in between so it dries completely before I put in next layer. Also worked on the windows during this time.
Finally the shadows and cycles
This was a backbreaker .. took be about 4 hrs to complete on A3 size. But came out good. Final touches on the window and few details here and there.. closed it up.
