On a recent business trip to Dubai, I stayed near Dubai Marina, which is a fantastic location known for it's affluent neighbourhood, a leisure complex with al fresco dining and generally a great place to relax.
Of course being a business trip, meant the main opportunity to explore this place is after hours in the evening, which is just as well, given the soaring Dubai heat during the day.
When I stepped out on Dubai Marina walk this fine evening, it was like being transported to some futuristic metropolis city, with all the dazzling neon and shimmering lighting draping the skyscrapers.
It was also great see how the backdrop of futuristic architecture in striking contrast with traditional architecture of a Mosque.
The Dubai Marina is of course also the home to gleaming yachts of all sizes, marooned or being meticulously prepared to take it's owners or guests on a perfect evening cruise, on the calm Arabian waters.
Along the 2 mile stretch, the waterside promenade Dubai Marina Walk offers some great sites and sounds, as well as cafes, pop-up crafts markets and restaurant hosts enticing you with specials on their menu!
The gentle breeze and the sound of calm waters is all the soundtrack that I needed while taking a leisurely stroll...
A lonely dhow (a traditional Arabian boat) sailing around the Marina...
This was an immensely enjoyable walking experience around the Dubai marina and comes highly recommend if you are ever in Dubai!
