Research has shown that any gap in western nations is almost entirely out of the fact that men work harder, more hours, and do take higher risks, be it demanding promotions or physically dangerous jobs. Discrimination is not only negligible but highly illegal.

In jobs where these things don't apply as much (say, HR-based state-funded jobs), women tend to earn more than men, if I remember right.

In the picture provided, I highlighted in green what I would consider dangerous, where actual deaths are significantly higher than the rest. In blue are what I consider to be exceptionally high stress, where huge numbers of people's lives or livelihoods are in your hands.

Everything beneath is just a salary, for the most part with zero risk to yourself or the people around you.

Unless you disagree entirely with my highlights, you can see males dominate on both accounts, and I would honestly not recommend women try to level that playing field. Stay away! Most men aren't wealthy yacht-floating CEO's. most are impoverished and powerless like everybody else, hate the fact they have to work at all, and are taking a great sacrifice in life by doing a mundane, meaningless job for a paycheck to support the people they love - or just to survive themselves.
