Reminds me a little bit of Plato's Republic, an abhorrent hellhole of a concept that most societies are finding themselves slipping into. Basically a totalitarian, censorship state where individuality is seen as a threat to the top-down concept of a utopia. Any deviation is the enemy.
It's kind of why young kids have such dysmorphia. I first saw it in Korea, where there was not some insane beauty standards, but just one beauty standard. One ideal concept of what a woman should look like - A specific celebrity that everybody was expending every ounce of their soul and their wallets to become. Any deviation from that was considered abnormal and incomplete.
And even if you accomplish it, you can no longer smile, because a smile would warp that image slightly.
Aristotle had it right, with emphasis on virtue and recognition of diversity. I don't know why our society is going plato's dystopian way when the alternative is objectively better in every way...
