Oh I've done the AI thing. One of them, a Frenchman, has been here in China for 8 years and it took until meeting me to convince him to get a VPN. Meaning, he's been in China this whole time without any exposure to western media, western apps, websites, news, nothing. And it's not like he's an integration success story; doesn't speak Chinese either.

So finally he got access to deepseek, and now I got him on a VPN, others... he's just paranoid and depressed about the outside world and the scary things AI is doing. It's causing issues in his work (art classes, students using it to fake art portfolios) and he's not remotely experienced enough to properly get around it so I have to babysit him through that whole process too - I'm not an art teacher!
