For me I think this is largely due to the fact that I live in a place that I never tire of calling privileged, I live in the city, but in an urbanization where there are many green areas, even many birds and animals,
I had this situation before my current place. Second floor home with a kind of catwalk balcony over 20m long which I planted cherry tomatoes, beans, potatoes, sunflowers (over 9 feet tall in pots!!) and more. The balcony overlooked a private bamboo garden with a cherry blossom tree right outside my door which I could watch the birds and squirrels from my bed with the door open. It was a paradise for my cats, safe from the outsiders, they could jump down to the bottom and sunbathe, since it was always closed
- some kind of private medical clinic.
Damn... but the apartment was too small to have my fiance move in so now I live in a dystopian, crappy, construction-infested building surrounded by more construction and cars. But hey, it's bigger. sigh.
We are always so fortunate to get such a precious pocket of nature in a big city.
