You think it’s just for CDN and a permanent web?IPFS is going to change the world…Let’s take a look at what IPFS is capable of:
It can upload all the files in the world under /ipfs and /ipns; that means every file we will ever use can be uploaded to it. It can upload personal synced folders and automatically execute version updates and backups. This hints at limitless cloud storage in the future; we’ll never have to worry about losing data or compromises to our privacy (this is because of asymmetric encryption).

Does this remind you of something? Our currently popular Baidu, QQ, and Dropbox cloud storage will be made obsolete by IPFS’ cloud capabilities.

IPFS is capable of this due to its nature as an encrypted file and data sharing system. File encryption and data sharing will become a piece of cake. It’s a package management system equipped with version control. It’s a virtual machine root filesystem.

IPFS founder Juan Benet has directly mentioned application scenarios on the system. Those who are interested may refer to the IPFS white book.

In reality, IPFS can do much more than what we’ve mentioned here. If all of our computing systems had this structure, IPFS could solve the ultimate problem: data storage. It can greatly decrease data storage costs and increase download speeds.

Meaning IPFS can increase efficiency anywhere data storage needs to be optimized.

The Philosophical Ramifications of IPFS and FileCoin
The birth of IPFS and FileCoin greatly increases our data storage sharing capabilities. That equals value. If this becomes mainstream, there’s no going back.

This is different than BTC. BTC’s inherit problem is POW’s high reliance on computing resources and the associated massive power costs.

BTC’s value is determined like this:

1.Marxist economics explains that BTC’s value = its power cost + computing cost + undifferentiated human labor.

2.Western economics defines it this way: BTC’s value is a balance between supply and demand.

3.The modern internet culture explains it like this: IP. BTC created its own IP, just like money. A massive IP.

But BTC isn’t fundamentally improving our efficiency. We can see from the white book published by BTC founder Nakamoto that BTC: stems from fairness but doesn’t necessarily need to be efficient. (Or could it be said that BTC distributes money? I haven’t thought about this yet, maybe I will write a separate article on it in the future. I welcome your opinions.)

The POW mechanism utilized by IPFS (FileCoin) is different than BTC’s. It doesn’t have large power costs and doesn’t rely on computing resources. This means that IPFS fundamentally increases humanity’s efficiency and makes it a truly shared economy. This is a big step forward in the way we use storage resources and is also the source of everyone’s confidence in IPFS.
