The dead man's eyes opened.
He was obviously in pain. The expression on his face as he looked over at her was one of confusion, as if he didn't understand how things had come to this. I didn't understand it either."The most beautiful tears, the deepest cuts, the deepest scars and the deepest laughter, I want you to tell me all of them."
"...Rahul and I...It's only for a few months...it's just going to be a fling...I want you to know that I love you. I love you, but I don't want a king... I don't want you to be my soulmate...I don't want you to be my husband," she sniveled, as he comforted her with warm, loving strokes of his hand on her hair. "What do you want then, Nidhi? Tell me what you want," he questioned gently.
She shook her head vigorously, "I don't know. I really, really don't know. I just know that I love you and I want you to be my special partner in life and that is all."
"But, I want your soulmate, Nidhi," he tried to caress her hair the same way he did now, but she pushed his hand away, "you have to understand, my sweetheart, that I am not worth your time, money or affection. I am not worth all this sacrifice you are making."
She pulled back his hand this time, "You are the best thing that has happened to me in my life. I have several reasons for this love.Darkness set in, the dark of the moon. I sat upon my lonely throne, brooding over my foolish Kings’ mistakes, my enemies, my Court. And that is when the dam broke, the tears began to fall, and the entire world crumbled.
I was broken, our Kingdom was lost, and there was nothing I could do.
The Queen wept alone, for she was alone. She was the ruler, she was to blame. She stood to the side, no longer in charge, and her Kingdom fell, her King gone.
So she sat in her seat of power, and wept for a broken Kingdom, a lost King. And that is when day turned to night; when night turned to day. And the Queen grieved, and she wanted her old Kingdom back. The Queen grew, she took the throne and power, and her sorrow turned into rage.
She took her armies, she took its borders, and she set forth to all corners of the world.
I, however, was not dead, although I lay broken. I laughed at the Queen’s accusation, and laughed at her loss. And I laughed at her foolish quest.
But I reach out, and I took her Kingdom, I stole her title, and soon all stood under this new Queen. And she set forth her greatness, her place for greatness. Her place to rule, to conquer, to birth her own Kingdom.
She knew none of her predecessor; she had not seen the Kingdom that I had long desired. She knew no love, nor did she know life.
So I remained behind, in my chambers, in my castle, while I could not speak to the new Queen, and soon, I would die. So I sat and I watched, and soon the Queen would take her throne; the Queen would become Queen.
And she fell, once again, under my command. She was broken, for she had broken me. She was again my Queen, and she accepted her new title.
