Before we go any further, there's one important thing I want to make absolutely clear.
You do NOT have to celebrate Christmas to join this challenge or enter the 100 HIVE giveaway!
Hive is a wonderfully diverse international community, with people from different countries, cultures, religions and traditions.
Some of us celebrate Christmas, some celebrate other holidays, and some don't celebrate any at all.
But every single one of you is equally welcome! ❤️
We're calling it the Christmas Cash Challenge because of the time of year, but it's really about having fun, sharing ideas, supporting one another and making a little extra money.
Whether you're saving for Christmas presents, another celebration, a family treat, everyday expenses or simply building your savings, we'd love you to participate.
Whatever you celebrate, wherever you live and whatever you believe, you're welcome to join the fun! 🌍🐝

I'm writing this from Scotland, where I'm challenging myself to find an extra £100 before Christmas.
But Hive isn't just Scotland or the UK.
We have wonderful people writing, creating and sharing from every corner of the world.
So I thought, why not fluffing invite everybod to the fun?
Here's the idea:

Now, I appreciate that £100 and ₱100 are very different amounts. 😂
But this isn't a competition to see who makes the most money.
It's about setting yourself a target, discovering new opportunities, encouraging one another and celebrating every little win!
If 100 is too easy, choose a higher personal target. If it's difficult, that's fine too.
You don't even need to reach your target to enter the giveaway!
And if you don't celebrate Christmas, simply treat 24 December as our challenge finish line rather than a holiday deadline.

💡 Seven Ideas to Get Your Christmas Cash Challenge Started!
1. Sell Your Forgotten Treasures! 📦
Open that cupboard, drawer or box under the bed.
You know the thing ... It contains things you haven't touched since 2018 but are absolutely convinced you'll need one day!
Old gadgets, books, clothing or unwanted gifts might be worth something to somebody else.
Just make sure you don't accidentally sell your partner's favourite belongings.
Apparently, that can lead to a rather chilly Christmas or a bump on the head from a frying pan 😂
Your challenge: Find one unwanted item and see whether somebody else might want it.
2. Make Something! 🧶
Are you good at crochet, knitting, photography, drawing, baking or crafts?
I bet you could sell something you've made or offer a little service?
Even one small sale can be a lovely boost to your savings.
Your challenge: Think of one skill or hobby that could earn you a little extra.
3. Search for Forgotten Money! 🔍
Check old cashback accounts, reward balances, unused gift cards and forgotten subscriptions. Failing that, try the back of the sofa, or your out of season clothes. Yesterday I put on my winter parka and found 4 £2 coins in pocket. Eight quid or ten bucks more ir less.
You might not find a fortune, but every little bit helps.
And saving £5 by cancelling something you don't use is still £5 available for something more important!
Your challenge: Have a little money treasure hunt around your accounts.
4. Earn From Genuine Referrals! 🤝
Some companies reward customers for recommending their services.
If you already use something you genuinely like, check whether there's a suitable referral programme.
Always be transparent about any rewards and read the conditions carefully.
Your challenge: Find a genuine referral opportunity available in your country.
5. Keep Creating on Hive! 🐝
We're already part of a community where original writing, photography and creative contributions can receive rewards.
Hive earnings aren't guaranteed, but perhaps this challenge could inspire a few interesting posts! Think of this as your KUTA moment (Kick Up The Arse) as 
Share your experience, tell us about earning opportunities in your country, or write about something you've learned.

6. Get Paid for Your Opinions! 🗣️
Some research companies will pay people to complete studies or surveys.
Here in the UK, Prolific is one platform I use.
And let's face it, You've been giving your opinions away for free for fluffing years 🤣 So why not get paid for them!
Check which legitimate platforms operate in your own country.
Your challenge: Find one genuine research or survey opportunity where you live.
7. Turn Your Shopping Into Cashback! 🛍️
If you're buying something you genuinely need, check whether cashback is available.
I use services such as Topcashback, Quidco, Cheddar and EverUp in the UK.
But I'm especially interested to hear which cashback services work in other countries.

And remember, buying something unnecessary just to earn cashback isn't saving money!

🎯 My Own £100 Challenge!
Since I'm the one launching this challenge, I'd better lead by example!
Here's an example of how I might try to reach my £100 target here in Scotland.

I want this to be transparent, simple and fair.

🏆 The Prize
One winner receives 100 liquid HIVE, transferred directly to their Hive account.
This is HIVE cryptocurrency, not Hive Power or HBD.
The value of HIVE can fluctuate, so the prize doesn't represent a guaranteed cash value in any national currency.
🎉 Potential Additional Prizes
Additional prizes may be introduced during the challenge, subject to availability.
Any extra prizes will be announced separately, before their own entry periods begin, with their own terms, eligibility conditions and selection methods.
They will not reduce or replace the 100 HIVE grand prize or alter the existing grand-prize entry rules.
📅 Entry Period
Entries open on Monday 12 October 2026 and close on Sunday 20 December 2026 at 23:59 UTC.
🌍 Who Can Enter?
Hive account holders aged 18 or over, wherever participation is legally permitted.
You do not need to celebrate Christmas or any other religious or cultural holiday.
The organiser, members of their household and accounts they control cannot enter.
Participation is void where prohibited by applicable law.
✍️ How to Enter
Leave one qualifying comment on this original launch post telling us:
- Your country.
- Your local currency.
- One way you plan to earn or save extra money during the challenge.
One entry per person. Additional comments won't give you extra chances.
The first qualifying comment from each eligible person will count.
Entries must be posted before the deadline. Edited comments must contain all three required answers by the closing time.
Duplicate or fraudulent entries, impersonation and accounts reasonably established as being controlled by the same entrant may be disqualified. Any exclusions will be documented.
🎲 How the Winner Will Be Chosen
We're using a publicly verifiable random draw, not a popularity contest!
Here's the process:
Step 1: After entries close, I'll compile all eligible Hive usernames, remove duplicates and arrange them alphabetically.
Step 2: I'll publish the final numbered list, starting at 1, before the random value used for the draw becomes available.
Step 3: We'll use the first publicly available randomness beacon from the drand Quicknet network scheduled at or after 12:00 UTC on
Monday 21st December 2026.
The network's published chain identifier is:
52db9ba70e0cc0f6eaf7803dd07447a1f5477735fd3f661792ba94600c84e971
The public randomness and its round number can be independently checked through the drand network.
Step 4: We'll convert the beacon's hexadecimal randomness value into an integer and calculate:
Winning entry number = (random integer MOD number of eligible entries) + 1
For example, if there are 100 eligible entries, the calculation produces a winning entry number between 1 and 100.
Step 5: I'll publish the drand round, randomness value, calculation and winning Hive username so everyone can independently reproduce the result.
If no eligible entries are received, the draw will not take place.
The winning account must remain eligible under the published rules. No additional judging, voting or discretionary winner selection will be involved.
📣 Winner Announcement
The winner will be announced on Monday 21 December 2026, after the draw, in our Christmas Cash Challenge finale.
If verification takes longer than expected, the result will be published as soon as reasonably possible, with an explanation.
💰 Prize Payment
The prize of 100 liquid HIVE will be transferred directly to the winning account's Hive wallet within seven days of the winner being confirmed.
I'll share the Hive transaction so everybody can see that the prize was paid.
The winning account does not need to provide any private keys or send funds to receive its prize.

- No purchase, payment, subscription, follow, upvote or reblog is required.
- You don't have to reach your savings target to win.
- You don't have to publish additional posts or join every Monday update.
- Weekly community spotlights have no influence on the random draw.
- Every valid entry has an equal chance of winning, apart from the negligible mathematical rounding effect of mapping a fixed random number to the entry count.
- Celebrating Christmas is not a condition of entry.
- The organiser will not request participants' private keys, passwords or account recovery information.
