Hello friends, This is mmiya@mmiya from #Bangladesh.

Dear Hive enthusiasts, anything left neglected or uncared for will eventually deteriorate. To keep something in good condition and looking beautiful, it must be consistently maintained. Even highly valuable items will fall into ruin if they are not looked after, whereas even items of lesser quality can remain in good shape if they are well-maintained. Ultimately, everything requires care and attention to stay in good condition.

There are many structures around us that are falling into disrepair due to neglect and a lack of care. Often, these structures are built to commemorate specific memories or events; they are created with great enthusiasm, but as time passes, if we begin to neglect them, they deteriorate and lose their significance to people.

In the Kazipur Upazila of our Sirajganj district, near the Shimanta Bazar, there stands a memorial monument. It was built a long time ago, but today, due to neglect and a lack of care, it is falling into ruin. When it was first constructed, the local community—along with their Member of Parliament (MP)—built it with great passion, and at that time, it held deep meaning for everyone in the area.

Following its construction, the site hosted various events; for instance, Victory Day (December 16th) and Independence Day (March 26th) were celebrated there. Various other national occasions were also observed at this monument. However, today, no events are held at this location at all. This memorial site features play equipment: there are swings for children on one side and a slide on the other. My own children used to play here occasionally, and these play structures remain in good condition. Near the entrance, there are toilets for public use, along with a 1,000-liter water tank, making it convenient for anyone to attend to their personal needs.

Plastic chairs were provided for visitors near the entrance, but they are now broken; similar plastic seating inside the memorial is also damaged. Due to neglect and a lack of proper maintenance, tiles are falling off the structure, and the surrounding area has become overgrown with vegetation and littered with trash. It is clearly in need of care.

Located to the east of the Shimanta Bazar bus stand—along the Kazipur road, on the route from Sirajganj to Gazipur—this memorial, known as 'Muktir Sopan' (Steps to Freedom), was built to commemorate the mass uprising and the Liberation War of Bangladesh. It is essential that this site be renovated and properly maintained to preserve the history and heritage of Bangladesh.
