This is one of those you have to be ready for, or you'll miss it moments. I was standing by the river and was looking for interesting birds; this pelican flew right across my line of sight and was almost out of the frame when I started tracking and was able to get a few quick shots off. I don't think I could have caught anything worthwhile if I wasn't ready with my camera and had the settings I would need to catch a bird in flight.
