One of the funny things about bots is that, if theyâre doing their job well, nobody really notices them. They just keep tipping, keep rewarding people and quietly do their thing in the background.
That doesnât mean they stand still though.
Over the last weeks weâve been adding quite a few new features to the entire MMB family (@mmbbot,
@indeedly,
@hopelizer,
@weirdly,
@thestrider and
@zombiebot), and I figured it was about time to give everyone a small overview.
đ° Every tip can now win you tokens
Probably the biggest addition is the new raffle system.
Every valid tip you send automatically becomes a raffle ticket. A few times every day one of those tips gets picked, and the winner receives a random prize from one (or moreâŚ) of our community tokens.
Most prizes are small. Every now and then somebody hits the bigger jackpot and walks away with a nice collection of MMB, IDD, HOP, WRD, STR and BRN.
No extra commands, no registration, nothing to remember. Just keep tipping like you normally would.
đ Check your own statistics
Want to know how youâre doing?
Simply reply with:
!MMB stats
(or !MMB status)
The bot will send you a memo showing:
And yes⌠it still tips the author while doing all that.
If you donât meet the requirements yet, itâll also tell you exactly what youâre missing.
(The same command exists for all the other bots too.)
đ Milestones deserve a little celebration
Sending tips has always been about supporting each other.
Now the bots celebrate that as well.
Whenever you reach milestones like 100, 500, 1,000, 5,000 or even 10,000 tips sent or received, youâll get a small congratulations memo.
Nothing life changing.
Just a little âthanks for being here.â
đ Weekly reports became a lot more interesting
The weekly summaries also received some attention.
Theyâre now freshly written every week, include charts with the top tippers and top recipientsâŚ
âŚand perhaps the nicest part:
80% of the post rewards go straight to that weekâs number one tipper.
Being generous has always felt good.
Now it occasionally pays as well.
â¤ď¸ Want to support the project?
Running several tipping bots, keeping them maintained and adding new features takes time (servers also have the annoying habit of insisting on being paid every month).
If youâd like to support what weâre building, a witness vote is probably the biggest help you can give.
You can vote for:
Every vote helps us keep building.
And, if history is any indication, the bots probably havenât learned their last new trick yet.
