The prompt is so relatable to a discussion I had with a friend few days ago. Ok, while growing up I thought fulfillment was something I would only experience after I had " made it" in life.
I once believed that once I had enough money, a beautiful house, exotic cars, infact everything I dreamed of, then I would finally feel fulfilled. But as I watch people around me and reflected on my own life, I realized that life doesn't really work that way.
I have seen people who seem to have everything but still they are unhappy . They have good jobs, drive good cars and live in beautiful mansion yet they struggle with depression, loneliness and anxiety. If Money is fulfilment then rich people would never commit suicide, but yet we see and hear this cases of suicide among them occasionally.
On the other hand, I have seen people who have little but yet they laugh freely, live peacefully and genuinely enjoy their lives. And that made me to realize that fulfillment is not something money that buy.
For me, one of the biggest sources of fulfillment is helping others. When I say helping others, I don't mean dashing them money. I don't always have money to give, sometimes it is simply as encouraging someone who is passing through some difficulties, helping a neighbor carrying heavy load, helping the blind to buy something across the street, explaining something that someone else did not understand. These little things can leave a great impact on people's life, and to me, these little things means fulfillment.
Another thing that brings fulfillment is peace. In today's world, a lot of people spend their lives chasing one goal or the other. Believing that fulfillment will come after the next achievement. I have learned that having peace of mind is one of the greatest blessings someone should have. When I sleep without bitterness, hatred or unnecessary worries, I feel completely fulfilled.
Then gratitude, Gratitude plays an important role in fulfillment. Most people focus on things they don't have, and compare themselves with others, thereby giving themselves so much pressure to meet up. For me I always take time to appreciate the little things I have, a new day, good health, food on the table. These things makes me fulfilled.
At the end of the day, I don't think fulfillment is all about having the most. It is living a life that has a meaning.
If I can make someone's day brighter, go to bed with a peaceful heart and wake up grateful for seeing another day, then I believe i already have reasons to feel fulfilled.
