Was re-watching Weidman KOing Silva yesterday and I couldn't help but notice something.
As Weidman knocks (arguably) the GOAT off his throne in one of the greatest upsets in sports history; as the world erupts and Ray Longo nearly shits his pants in excitement, as the arena leaps to its feet... John Danaher doesn't even move. He keeps his head, resting on his hands on the side of the Octagon.
It would be interesting to know what was going through his mind at that moment.
Up until Weidman lost the belt, there must have been supreme confidence throughout his camp and coaching staff. Chris was beating the whole world.
I wonder if it's as simple as a man who knows exactly what he's watching both before and during the fight, fully expecting to see his pupil win the contest, and being unsurprised that he did...
Or... if he was just wearing a game-face...
