Beautiful pictures in Sweden
There are moments when I find myself longing to revisit a familiar view, one that always stirs something deep within me. June in Sweden holds a special place in my heart; it’s a time of unparalleled beauty and warmth. While Japan experiences its long, relentless rainy season, June in Sweden brings the joy of the Midsummer Festival, celebrating the sun's generous embrace.
I think back to the town I used to visit, where the lumber industry played a vital role in the community’s life, and the lumber yard beside the train station stood as a testament to hard work and resilience, filled with towering piles of timber that spoke to the character of the place and its people.
During the summer, the snow gently melts from the mountains, nourishing the creek that flows near our cherished home. In the garden, we lovingly prepare the strawberry patch, carefully making rows for the strawberries that will bring sweetness to our tables. At the edge of the field, we plant chives, a small yet significant touch that enhances the flavors of Swedish cuisine.
Midsummer festivals remind us of the importance of family and the joy of returning home, allowing us to lend a hand to our parents in the garden and help tidy up as a way to show our gratitude. We do our best to assist during our brief visit, whether it’s painting the bridges with protective anti-corrosion paint, weeding expansive pastures, or tending to yard work. These activities turn into beautiful memories we cherish.
The blooming lupine flowers, though an exotic species that has become a bit overwhelming, herald the arrival of our fleeting summer, evoking reflections of both the beauty and the challenges of this special time in the Nordic garden.
何度と見た景色が急に見たくなるときがあります。ストックホルムから電車で北に３時間ほど行くと着く町、そして、更に車で２時間ほど北上するとこの美しい景色に出会えます。6月のスウェーデンは本当に美しい時期で、一年のなかで大好きな時期でした。日本は梅雨の時期にあたり、長雨が続くじめじめした時期ですが、スウェーデンは夏至祭りの時期で、一年で一番日照期間が長い時期です。私のよく行ったこの町は、製材業が盛んでいつも伐採された木材が積み上げられて駅の横の木材積載場は木材で一杯になっていました。
夏は山から溶け出した雪水が行きよいよく小川に注ぎ込み、家の近くの小川に流れ込みます。庭ではイチゴ畑の準備が忙しく、いくつもの畝を作っていました。チャイブも畑の端に植えていて、スウェーデン料理には欠かせない調理のアクセントになります。夏至祭りは帰省し、庭仕事や掃除をして親たちを支えます。短い期間ではありますが、滞在期間はできる限りのお手伝いをします。橋に腐食防止のペンキを塗ったり、大きな牧草地の除草、庭の仕事の手伝い、それはみんないい思い出です。外来種で増えすぎて困っているルピナスの花が北欧の庭に咲き誇り、短い夏の訪れを私たちに告げていました。
