Carmillias in my garden
With the arrival of "Keichitsu," we are experiencing a welcome change in the weather, as temperatures have noticeably warmed up. Keichitsu, one of the 24 solar terms, signifies the time when insects emerge from the soil, providing an excellent opportunity to observe nature. It's encouraging to see chickadees and sparrows actively pecking at these insects during this season.
In my garden, tiny wildflowers are beginning to bloom, which adds a lovely touch of color. I'm excited about the possibility of having dandelions flourish this year, and I plan to transplant Japanese dandelions from the banks of the Yodo River to help achieve this. The recent warm weather is already prompting the tiniest flowers to bloom, reminding me of the typical weather in early May.
While I appreciate the warmth, I'm also mindful of how this unseasonably warm spell could lead to a hotter summer. To prepare for this, I’ll keep a close eye on the garden and adapt my care as needre everything thrives, even in the heat.
啓蟄が過ぎて、急に温かくなってきている。啓蟄は二十四節気の1つで、「虫が土から這い出す」季節だそうで、文字通りこの頃は土から這い出す虫をついばむヒヨドリやスズメをよく見かけます。目を凝らしてよく見ると、小さな野花が庭に咲いていました。今年は私の庭でもタンポポが咲いて欲しいと思っていて、淀川の河川敷から日本タンポポを移植したいなぁと考えています。小さな小さな花も咲き始めるほどこの頃は温かくなり、今日は５月上旬の気温だったようです。温かくなるのはうれしいのですが、季節外れの暖かさは、今年の夏が異常なほどに暑くならないか今から少し心配しています。
